Shift Working Equestrians

I see so many of my fellow equestrians in shift work careers.

Whether it’s healthcare, first responders, bartenders/restaurant industry, factory, I see you and I’ve BEEN THERE.

I was a bartender for 10 years and went through all the trial and error of what works best while being run off my feet. (Protein shakes were my bff)

Working shift work means a lack of regular sleep, usually a lack of quality sleep in general. Odd, constantly changing schedules, long hours and high stress. Did I catch it all? Oh, and often times too busy to catch your breath let alone a meal.

Our bodies are meant to rest at night and it can be a serious battle for shift workers to maintain a healthy circadian rhythm (sleep cycle) metabolism, positive mood and of course energy.

The best way to minimize these impacts is to prioritize your health and wellness as much as possible.

I KNOW you’re out there working your butts off and it can feel overwhelming, but all I say is do the best you can.

If you’re a shift worker and struggling with food, weight, exhaustion please don’t hesitate to reach out.
